The Cycle Leadership Training provided by Brian and the team at CERA was outstanding. We were guided through the theoretical aspects of leading supported cycles, considering the opportunities, benefits, barriers and challenges that would be relevant for our group. We were challenged to apply more general issues to our specific group dynamic and think in detail about how to tailor the rides to our outcomes. This included considering behaviour, tone, group working and ability. The afternoon practical session served to embed this learning and the CERA team demonstrated their expertise and full understanding of safety and group management in this setting. In a short period of time we had experienced leadership in both on and off road settings, through both watching and leading, discussing and acting out. By the end of the day we had a strong understanding of the best ways in which to lead our group on supported cycles and felt confident in our ability to begin this programme safely and to maximum effect. The CERA team demonstrated expertise, long tested experience and a constant focus on enabling us to create experiences for change within our group.

We took a group of our regular school students out for a ride which was challenging and fun at the same time, all the lads who took part really enjoyed the ride and behaviour was a very high standard, listening to instructors, carry out advice given and road safety along the way was A1 – well done lads on completing a 14 mile ride which was a real challenge considering you don’t ride on a regular basis. Health, Fitness, road safety, responsibility, fun, polite and courteous all the way.
